jigdo-easy

the easy way to get your Debian CD images -- on  *UX  and  Windows

jigdo-easy is an advanced yet light-weight full-screen text-mode download tool for Debian CD images (or anything else offered in "Jigsaw Download" format). It works similar to download tools like Gozilla and GetRight, but has the advantage that you can use over 200 servers to download the bulk of the images from. Actually, the images are never downloaded themselves, only their contents -- and the images are re-assembled on your own computer, automatically!

You don't need to know more. Just try it.

For more information on the Debian CD images, see http://cdimage.debian.org.

DOWNLOAD Linux/UNIX (actually, any OS with C compiler):

jigdo-easy-2.1.tar.gz   177 KB, md5sum: c1729de5d02a15576582cad1e51fde7e

jigdo-easy-2.1.tar.Z   263 KB, md5sum: 6ef4dc5f87526bab4689d5e385d1a50d

(Both archives also contain the highly portable jigdo-port program to make things work everywhere.)

Quickstart:
- Unzip
- make
- ./jigdo-easy
- After downloading, burn the .iso file on a CD: Burning instructions

Easy, ain't it?

If things don't work, read the README for jigdo-easy and README for jigdo-port (both also contained in the archives).

Note that jigdo-easy works equally well with the included jigdo-port as with the "official" jigdo-file, but the latter only compiles on quite recent Linux systems. If you have jigdo-file in the $PATH, there's no need to compile jigdo-port.

DOWNLOAD Windows:

jigdo-easy2win.zip   1.24 MB, md5sum -b: 1ffa5ed1a89bf0760b43341371d3ae68

(But if you don't have WinZip installed, get all the separate files from here: jigdo-easy2win/ and put them all in the same directory on your harddisk.)

Quickstart:
- Unzip
- Double-click 'RUNME'
- After downloading, burn the .iso file on a CD: Burning instructions

Easy, ain't it?

If things don't work, read the README for jigdo-easy2win (also contained in the archive).
Or Spanish README (not in archive).

Other notes:

To keep people happy, here are the sources of everything in jigdo-easy2win.

EXAMPLES of the menu system:

(Enter this URL on any menu input line to see it in action.)

The obligatory SCREENSHOTS:

It just looks the same everywhere. SunOS, HP-UX, Linux, Windows, whatever...
